Hitachi seeks channel growth with seven new faces

New appointments include channel director for A/NZ, Steve Kelly

Hitachi Data Systems has hired seven new staff, including a new channel director, as part of plans to boost its indirect business.

Steve Kelly replaces Kerstin Baxter as channel director for A/NZ following her appointment as director of volume channels for Hitachi Asia-Pacific.

Other new channel hires are Naime Siddell, Neill Campbell, Rob Cordy, Shannon Cummings, Shane Marchant and Scott Raggatt, who will occupy various channel partner management roles at state and national levels.

Kelly said the large number of appointments was a result of partner initiatives undertaken by Baxter.

"The appointments were made to support our business objective of having 70 per cent of our business through the channel by 2009/ 2010," he said.

Kelly said his first point of focus was to get the new faces integrated into the company and working as a team.

"A main focus for me is to bring Hitachi more into the solutions space. We don't just want to be selling boxes, so I'll be working at aligning us around that strategy," he said.

Prior to joining Hitachi, Kelly was responsible for the IBM Tivoli SMB and channel business in Asia-Pacific. He has also led the development for F5 network's channel model and held senior sales roles with Computerland and Datawatch, as well as BEA Systems.
