Sydney-based distributor and services provider, ASI Solutions, has signed a wholesale agreement with UK-headquartered interactive learning technology vendor, Promethean.
ASI will have access to the vendor's suite of Activclassroom hardware and software.
Activboard is an interactive whiteboard solution that allows teachers to use the Internet, audio, video, flipcharts and teacher tools. Activboard comes with projector options, software and Activote, a voting device that allows students to select answers that appear on the Activboard. The range is compatible with both PCs and Macs.
ASI director, Maree Lowe, said Promethean represented a new level of learning for students.
"The sales figures for this product in the US were huge. Resellers can make far more margin on it than selling servers or a notebook," she said. "This is a very different sell because it is not just a product sell. It's an interactive whiteboard and resellers have got to sell it as a solution because it does involve software and installation."
Lowe said the products would be delivered via two types of partner categories - Valued Added and Premium resellers.
"We are looking for resellers that are working in the education market, as well as value-added partners that put the effort into the training and installation," she said. "Training is the lynch pin. It is a huge window of opportunity for resellers that want to sell into education."
Partners will have access to technical support, on-site warranty services, demonstration equipment, market development funds and training on the Promethean range. Premium partners providing services will access better margins and extended training.
ASI is searching for partners in each state including software providers, network integrators, educational consultants, audio-visual companies and electrical contractors.
The vendor also runs a community Web portal for teachers to access called Promethean Planet, which provides free educational templates for teachers to share.
