Australian companies surveyed on cybercrime

The Australian Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCert) is in the process of surveying Australia's top 300 companies to quantify computer crime concerns.

AusCert general manager Graham Ingram said the survey will mirror the joint CSI/FBI survey in the US, which provides a global record of IT security attacks.

Ingram said the survey is being undertaken in conjunction with Deloitte and the New South Wales Police Force. The results will be released at AusCert's first conference, to be held in Queensland mid-year.

Details of the national survey were disclosed at a computer crime briefing held in Sydney last week by Deacons Lawyers and security services provider 90East.
