Microsoft Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2008 is designed to power the next generation of networks, applications and Web services. With Windows Server 2008, users can develop, deliver and manage user experiences and applications, provide highly secure network infrastructure and increase efficiency and value within their organisation. It features an operating system that has been hardened to help protect against failure, and several new technologies which help prevent unauthorised connections to users' networks, servers, data and user accounts. Key security enhancements include Network Access Protection (NAP), Read-Only Domain Controller (RODC) and Windows Firewall with advanced security. Other new features include Internet Information Server 7.0 (IIS 7.0), Terminal Services, virtualization functionality that spans the desktop to the datacentre, and updates to server functionality for enterprise workloads, including a complete redesign of the TCP/IP protocol suite which supports both Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), and a new minimal installation option called Server Core. The x64 versions include the first beta of Microsoft's new Hyper-V virtualisation technology which allows users to make the best use of their server hardware investments by consolidating multiple server roles as separate virtual machines running on a single physical machine.

Opengear IM4216
The IMG4216-25 gateway enables network and system administrators to manage the IT infrastructure in distributed businesses and branch offices. Its service processor manager simplifies out-of-band management of servers with service processor technologies by automating user access and consolidating IP connections. The gateway's multiple Ethernet ports connect point-to-point with IPMI (1.5 and 2.0), DRAC, RSA, iLO and ALOM service processors. The gateway's SDTConnector management client integrates with Dell OpenManage, IBM Director and other lights-out management applications to simplify operations. The service processors use secure SqL and console communications over side-band or out-of-band channels to remotely control the servers at all levels. The BIOS can be reconfigured, the operating system rebooted or the server power cycled - even when the main CPU itself is not operating. Managers can have full KVM graphical control of applications running on the server, even when in-band network access to the server is down.
