Lan 1 has become the first local distributor for Canadian-based remote monitoring and management software outfit, N-able Technologies.

Lan 1 managing director, Daniel Lee, said signing up N-able reinforced the distributor's mission to pursue the managed services market. N-able's product comes as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) as well as an on-premise platform.

"It is a new area for the company and provides our resellers with another product that will help grow their business this year," he said. "N-able sits well in our IP security and IP networking portfolio, and allows users to manage storage, networking and security appliances."

Lee said he saw a lot of potential in the local market around providing managed services.

"Security and IP networking resellers want to expand to provide a total solution and not just sell hardware, but also a managed service around monitoring their customers' networks," he said.

N-able president and CEO, Gavin Garbutt, said Lan 1's value-add outlook was a key reason for the distributor's appointment.

"We did an analysis of the different distributors in the market and Lan 1 had a good geographic distribution and a very strong value-added component when working with partners," he said. "Their primary interest seems to be more than just to sell products, but to also help partners improve the way they deliver product and services to SMEs. That resonates with our values as a company. We were looking for someone that had the same code of ethics and care factor to help partners succeed."

The vendor has also set up a local office based in Sydney, which will be headed up by regional sales manager, Derik Poitras.

"We decided to put our second international office here and we've also got one in the UK. There is an enormous market opportunity and the adoption rate is very strong," Garbutt said. "We don't just provide the technology, we also have a very strong focus on helping our partners develop the sales and marketing programs and business strategies."

The company will be hosting its first partner training and education event in Sydney on March 6.
