Managed security vendor, MailGuard, has appointed Firewall Systems as its first local distributor.
Firewall Systems marketing director, Nick Verykios, said resellers had wanted a managed security offering like MailGuard to take to their customers for a while.
"So far the uptake has come from our resellers that work in the SME and mid-market space, with up to 500-seat organisations and especially in the 1-350 seats, which is where the most interest has come from," he said. "That is where the sweet spot is right now because these customers don't have the resources to be able to manage their security policies."
Verykios said Firewall hoped to hit the $2 million mark in incremental revenue on MailGuard in the next 12 months. The MailGuard range fits in well with Firewall's managed unified threat management model, which aimed to supply complete business security, he said.
Firewall Systems had a dedicated support team in place to help resellers, he said.
"Resellers get a recurring commission on each sale and at the same time they are providing a responsible security tool for their customers," Verykios said.
MailGuard director of strategy, Craig McDonald, said MailGuard had experienced steady growth and good results in the local market.
"Our model is to grow through the channel. We thought one of the best ways we could do this is by aligning ourselves with a distribution group that shares the same passion," he said. "Firewall Systems fits perfectly because they are fast moving business themselves and their whole philosophy is around security. We've also got similar partners and so it was a good fit."
