-- Hewlett-Packard gave its TopTools management software a boost last week with the launch of a software bridge integrating HP OpenView Network Node Manager for Windows NT with TopTools 3.0.
TopTools is HP's flagship management program, which can control Vectra PCs, Kayak workstations, OmniBook notebooks, NetServer servers, as well as HP printers, network hardware, and certain devices from other vendors.
OpenView Network Node Manager is HP's most comprehensive network management application. When integrated with HP TopTools, OpenView users will see that TopTools icons have replaced the OpenView icons designating network devices on the OpenView Network Node Manager map. The devices will also be controlled by an enhanced menu of actions.
In NetServer systems, TopTools will generate a submap for each HP NetServer system by adding additional icons for NetServer system agents, which monitor system status, temperature, disk failures, power consumption, and other network-card statistics.
The software bridge is available now and can be downloaded from www.hp.com/toptools/ by clicking on the icon for integration with enterprise-management platforms and selecting HP OpenView Network Node Manager bridge, Version A.03.00.
