Tandberg Data RDX QuikStor

Tandberg Data's RDX QuikStor is a disk-based removable storage system with portable cartridges aimed at the SMB market. Tandberg Data claims the RDX QuikStor combines the benefits of tape with the performance of hard disk technology. The QuikStor has 300GB capacity and a USB connection, allowing customers to free up SATA ports for use with internal RAID configurations. Media stored on the QuikStor is safe for 10 years of average use, according to the vendor, while the hard drive features a reinforced, shock proof design for protection when outside the drive case. The QuikStor offers 45MBps transfer speeds. The cartridges are forwards and backward compatible, meaning future cartridges will operate in legacy systems. Cartridges with 80GB, 120GB and 160GB capacity will also be available.

D-Link xStack DSN-3200

The DSN-3200 has eight 1Gbps ports and can run up to 15, 1TB drives simultaneously, giving users up to 15TB storage capacity. Higher storage volume will also be achievable once greater volume drives are introduced. The DSN-3200 can handle more than 65,000 input/outputs per second and supports IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation Groups. All eight ports can be grouped together, achieving 850MB bandwidth, for increased throughput and redundancy. Other features of the array include iSCSI system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology, up to 512MB of system memory, and up to 4GB of battery-protected cache memory. The network storage server supports SATA II, as well as VLAN zoning for IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, and RAID at levels 0, 1, 1+0 and 5. Each storage array has an embedded IP-SAN device manager with monitoring and control functions.

Infortrend EonStor B12S-R/G1030

This small form factor (SFF) RAID subsystem comes with a SAS expansion port that supports Infortrend's B12S-J1000 JBOD using SFF SAS drives. The 2.5-inch Eon-Stor B12 is also compatible with the vendor's S12S-J1000 or S16S-J1000 JBODs with standard 3.5-inch drives. Local distributor, Digistor, claims the SFF arrays offer the advantages of 3.5-inch SAS systems, such as point-to-point architecture, high performance, simple and long cabling and compact connectors, but in a more compact and energy-efficient design. According to Digistor, the 2.5-inch SFF drives are 70 per cent smaller than conventional 3.5-inch drives and can deliver 100 per cent greater system performance using 40-50 per cent less power. They also run cooler, meaning less pollution is generated and airflow requirements are reduced.

Acronis Recovery for MS SQL

Acronis Recovery for MS SQL uses Acronis True Image software to meet the specific needs of database management and allows IT managers to securely back-up and recover databases to the point of failure, including tables, logs and other components. The product includes a wizard-driven management console which creates backup images that Acronis claims are up to 90 per cent smaller than those in the original database. It also allows users to backup to an FTP server without any staging steps, providing a fast and reliable way to move backups offsite, Acronis said. IT managers can automatically create and email disaster recovery plans with step-by-step instructions for recovering databases, making it possible for staff without database administration skills to restore information.

NetApp FAS2020

The NetApp FAS2020 allows customers to consolidate direct-attached storage (DAS) into a single networked solution and scale on-demand. By pooling storage, the FAS2020 lets mid-size enterprise customers allocate data resources and adapt environments rapidly to suit new business opportunities and challenges, NetApp said. The FAS2020 seeks to accommodate mid-size and distributed enterprises by offering integrated block- and file-level data access, intelligent management software, and data protection capabilities in a cost-effective package. The FAS2020 is a 2U rack-mountable storage server for system enclosures which contain single or dual controllers and up to 12 internal SAS drives. It offers 3.6TB internal storage and up to 21TB external storage, 2GB cache memory, four Gigabit Ethernet ports and four Gigabit fibre channel ports.
