Firewall security vendor, WatchGuard, has revamped its Secure Partner Program and introduced an entry-level channel tier.
Regional director, Scott Robertson, said it had not previously addressed the general reseller channel through an official program. The newly introduced third Associate tier would sit alongside WatchGuard's Professional and Expert partner ranks.
"We identified a number of resellers that didn't fall into our partner program but had hit revenue targets that would have justified being a part of it," he said. "We are trying to proactively work with our channel so they can see the value of being a WatchGuard partner and we can help them build their business."
Associate partners have access to the WatchGuard partner portal which features product information, lead generation, marketing material, pre-built presentation slides and a CRM tool to manage active customer accounts.
To make the cut as Professional partners, organisations must have one certified engineer and one certified sales person. At Expert level, partners need two of each.
Robertson said he would like to have 20-40 Associate partners in the next 6-12 months. WatchGuard has about 30 Professional and Expert partners including Leading Solutions, Global Data, Solutions Plus and NetForce.
In other news, the vendor is seeking to recruit territory sales managers for the southern and northern regions. This will bring its local headcount to six.
