Kevin Hartin has returned to Altech Computers as a special projects manager. He left Altech in December 2006 to tackle new career opportunities.
In January last year, he became the local channel manager for Nvidia. After 12 months, the vendor decided to pull the role back into its Taipei office, Hartin said.
In his new role, Hartin will be responsible for overseeing the distributor's expansion plans.
"In the next six months, Altech will be expanding quite a bit," he said. "We have outgrown our warehouses in Melbourne and Brisbane and are in the process of finalising new premises there. We are also looking at opening new branches."
Hartin said one of the new branches would be in New Zealand, which he planned to open in April.
"A lot of it boils down to finding the right premises and more importantly finding the right people to start the branch up," he said. "Altech has to keep expanding to create more opportunities for its vendors."
Hartin will also be focusing on enhancing the company's website. He said some of the new features he would like to add to the site include online payment processing.
"More than three quarters of our orders are coming in through the website and we always strive to make it better," Hartin said. "We have a long list of enhancements and extra functionality that we want to add."
