Corrupted files cause outage on eBay's site

Online auction firm eBay said its Web site was hit by several outages, including one that shut down parts of the site for about 12 hours.

San Jose-based eBay said the glitch was caused by corrupted data files that replicated themselves and then spread across its servers. The company was still investigating the cause of two shorter outages that also affected some users of its site.
