IBM subsidiary Tivoli Systems says it will lay off 250 of its 4,250 employees. The cuts represent about 5 percent of the company's staff. US offices will lose about 90 staff members in Texas; 75 in North Carolina; and 25 in San Jose. IBM reported July 18, a software revenue decline to US$3 billion, down 5% from the second quarter of 2000. The report stated: "Tivoli revenue declined as a result of continuing transitions in this unit's product line.
