Applications virtualisation vendor, Citrix, has introduced three training initiatives to help partner's skill up quickly and at a reduced cost.
Channel development manager, Dean Vaughan, said one of its biggest challenges as a vendor was ensuring partners have the ability to span all of Citrix's technologies.
"The best way to do that is to reduce the costs dramatically and make it easier for partners to access training," he said. "We have moved a lot of it onto e-learning so partners can access 24/7 training and we have also provided access to a mentoring system via the Web, including interactive labs and mentoring support."
The new training is broken into three segments - SalesPass, KickStart and StayCurrent. SalesPass provides sales certification and training for partners. Citrix previously charged partners to take the exams, but is now offering it at no cost.
KickStart focuses on providing technical training around its Citrix XenServer and NetScaler products. Vaughan said XenServer training would also be offered to partners at no cost, while partners could obtain 80 per cent off NetScaler training.
StayCurrent will look at offering resellers training around the Citrix Presentation Server Platinum Edition.
"StayCurrent program addresses those partners that have already made an investment in Citrix technologies, especially around Presentation Server Platinum," he said. "We have discounted that by 55 per cent and we have reduced the course from 11 days to five."
Vaughan said its simpler training approach would help ease some of the skills burden in the labour market.
