VIRTUAL EVENT - Tuesday, June 16 - Registrations Open

This September, Ricoh Australia will launch two new digital cameras, the Caplio G4 wide and the Caplio G4 - the fourth generation in digital photography. The Caplio G4 wide is the world’s first 3MP-class camera with a wide-angle lens (28 to 85mm equivalent). With a 76 degree viewing angle, more of the action can be captured in enclosed spaces.

The stylish Caplio G4 wide stands out from the crowd with its matt black metal casing. Both Caplio G4s have a shutter response time of just 0.14 seconds which actually exceeds the speed of a conventional 35mm camera, making these new 3.24-megapixel, 3x optical zoom Caplios the world's fastest in their class .

Speed is of the essence and the Caplio G4 wide also features a blazing start-up time of a mere 1.8, plus a flash recycling time of 2.8 seconds. This speed pays off by allowing the photographer to capture subjects on the move with a minimum of delay.

Stewart Pickersgill, Ricoh National Sales Manager, Photographics believes that the fourth generation improvements are bound to enthuse both the experienced and first time digital photographer.
Pickersgill comments, “The feedback from consumers has been that they love the versatility of digital photography but they still have a few bugbears. These include, restricted views, slow shutter response times and unoriginal designs. Ricoh has addressed these issues and the Caplio G4 wide offers a wide angled lens, an amazing shutter speed and dare-to-be-different styling.”

For power, users are supplied with a super long-lasting lithium-ion battery that enables 430 standard shots and up to 4300 shots with minimum power usage to be taken between charges. Users also have the option of substituting two convenient AA alkaline or nickel metal hydride batteries as a back up or operating with an AC adaptor.

Six practical scene modes are available: portrait, sports, landscape, night scene, text, and high-sensitivity. In the latter mode, the screen automatically illuminates subjects to aid in framing the picture in under-lit environments.

Both Caplio G4s take macros as close as 1cm from a subject and feature high speed continuous modes that can store 16 images on a single file with 0.13 second interval shooting.

A quick adjust button allows the user to easily adjust exposure (+2 to -2), white balance, and ISO (125-800) without going into menu. Moreover, the imaging software provided makes instant image transfers from the Caplio G4 to USB-equipped personal computers fast and easy.

Caplio G4 wide $549 (inc rechargeable lithium battery & charger worth $200).
Caplio G4 $479 (inc rechargeable lithium battery & charger worth $200).
