HP HDX Series Entertainment Notebook

The HP Pavilion HDX Series Entertainment Notebook, otherwise known as the Dragon, features a large 20.1-inch Ultra BrightView diagonal screen. Designed for users seeking a mobile home theatre experience, the Dragon features Altec Lansing audio supported by four integrated speakers and a subwoofer. The notebook features a dual hinge that allows users to move or tilt the screen for optimal viewing conditions and includes a dockable HDX Media Center Remote Control. The Dragon is available with Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor technology for high-definition mobile gaming, ATI's Mobility Radeon X2600 XT graphics card with 512MB of graphics memory, dual hard drives supporting up to 400GB of storage, and memory up to 4GB. Other features include a HD-DVD drive, built-in TV tuner and a fingerprint reader located above the keyboard for additional security.

LaCie New Little Disk

As with most of LaCie's products, the new 1.8-inch Little Disk hard drive has been designed with the style-conscious in mind. Using USB 2.0 technology, and with 60GB capacity, the Little Disk's USB cable is integrated with the hardware to avoid accidentally losing or misplacing it. The drive comes pre-formatted and driver-free to work across multiple platforms and has a removable cap for added protection and aesthetic appeal. The Little Disk also comes with LaCieSync - synchronisation and encryption software users can employ to modify files on the LaCie Little disk. The software automatically syncs updated data with their home or offi ce PCs. There's also backup software for both PC (LaCie '1-Click' backup software) and Mac (SilverKeeper backup software). The drive protects data using AES 128-bit encryption.

Swann USB Bluetooth adaptor

Swann Communications has released an inexpensive Bluetooth USB adaptor to provide users with a compact, quick and easy way to add Bluetooth capability to their desktop or laptop PC. The device is the size of a standard memory stick and plugs directly into the USB port on the computer. Swann claims the adaptor is plug-and-play convenient and supports Windows 2000/XP. The adaptor comes with Windows connectivity software, an internal embedded antenna and a one-year warranty with free technical support. The adaptor allows users to connect to and browse the Internet, send and receive email, synchronise with Bluetooth-enabled PDAs or mobile phones, hook up to an office network or communicate with other Bluetooth devices, and will function from a distance of up to 100 metres.

GFi FAXmaker version 14

GFI's new fax server software is designed to make sending and receiving faxes efficient, simple and cheap. The product eliminates the need to physically send faxes or make printouts as it allows users to send and receive faxes through an email client. With FAXmaker, a company's email client can also be used to send and receive SMS/text messages. According to GFI, main benefits include less time spent sending, collecting and distributing faxes, incoming faxes being sent to specific individuals rather than received on single or multiple faxes, and the ability to backup and search for all faxes the same way emails are stored and retrieved on a network. Version 14 integrates with Microsoft Exchange 2007 as well as the Brooktrout SR140 Fax over IP (FoIP) solution, and offers support for 64-bit Microsoft operating systems and Vista.
