In a bid to strengthen its position in the Australian server market, Macromedia has appointed Scholastic Australia to distribute its server products, in addition to Macromedia Web authoring tools.
A specialist distributor and publisher of educational computer software, Scholastic Australia joins Firmware Design and Express Data as distributors of Macromedia's server products.
Scholastic has distributed Macromedia Web authoring tools for the last three years and with the addition of server products such as ColdFusion and JRun, it will now distribute the entire Macromedia product range. "We want all of our distributors to distribute our full product line for the benefit of our customers and our partners," said Sein Chow, vice-president of Macromedia Asia-Pacific.
The software development tools vendor aims to leverage the appointment to further penetrate the corporate and education sectors with its server product range. "As a larger business focused on the mass enterprise market, we identified a need for a wider market presence for our server products," said John Treloar, country manager of Macromedia Australia/NZ. "Scholastic Australia complements our existing distributor relationships by giving us greater access to the corporate market."
Treloar said Firmware Design and Express Data have done a great job of building the Macromedia's market and continue to do so, but the vendor needed to expand its customer base.
According to Chow, Macromedia will not be appointing any more distributors in the near future. "Three distributors are sufficient for now," he said.
