Targus has become a bronze sponsor of the University of Michigan's solar car team, Continuum. The team will compete in Panasonic World Solar Challenge, which is a biennual event based on a competitive field of solar cars crossing from Darwin to Adelaide.
Teams are required to research, build and design vehicles that are capable of completing the 3000km journey. Since 1987, the event's purpose has been to promote and celebrate educational and technical excellence, as well as draw attention to the importance and value of sustainable transport.
Continuum uses small triple layered solar cells of silicon or gallium arsenide to convert solar energy to electricity, which cover the top of the vehicle. "Targus is determined to support eco-friendly practices by promoting development activities such as the Continuum project," marketing manager, Karen Raccani, said.
