Altech Computers has hired former TodayTech executive director, Michael Chong, as its new general manager.
Managing director, Antony Sheen, said he needed another set of hands to help him run the company, which had recorded about 36 per cent year-on-year growth.
"I have been working very hard for the past couple of years, sometimes seven days a week. I needed somebody strong and outstanding to help keep up with growth," he said. "The responsibilities will be shared between us. With two people it is much easier to keep up with growth."
Sheen said he was still deciding what types of responsibilities Chong would have in his newly created role.
"I think one of the major things he will be looking after is sales," he said.
Sheen said Chong's appointment would provide him with some spare time to look at ways of improving the company.
"We need to make sure our logistics can support our growth and that all the procedures are in place so we can provide the best service to customers," he said.
Sheen said he was also looking to hire more staff in sales, technical, accounts, product managers and a warehouse manager for Sydney. Altech currently has about 190 employees.
TodayTech CEO, Jack Zhong, said it had no plans to replace Chong.
