NetApp appoints distribution head

Plans include ensuring partners are trained and certified

Storage vendor, NetApp, has promoted Thomas Dooner to the role of A/NZ distribution manager.

In the newly created role, he will be responsible for managing the vendor's distributor relationships.

Director of partner and public sector sales, Scott Morris, said it was imperative to ensure that NetApp had a key focus on that side of the business.

Last month NetApp overhauled its distribution line-up, dropping Avnet and Lan 1 for Distribution Central's new storage division, SAN Systems.

"His [Dooner's] first key priority is to ensure that partners are absolutely enabled in terms of product awareness, and have pre- and post-sales training from a certification point of view," Morris said. "Dooner will be working with our partner training team to bring those guys up to speed and then do a profile of the two market places in A/NZ to see what sort of coverage we have and where we need to bolster it up."

He said Dooner would also look at recruiting partners in various verticals and market focuses to ensure a broader coverage of the NetApp brand.

"The aim is to reach out to a larger number of storage specific resellers," Morris said.

Dooner joined the vendor in 2006 and was previously the IBM alliance manager. His resume also entails various roles within AT&T, Cisco and Ford.
