With IT security a hot ticket item, one Sydney distributor is offering resellers the ability to scan their customers' networks for potential security flaws at a fraction of the cost of doing it themselves.
At least this is the promise Janteknology is taking to market after partnering with Beyond Security, an Israeli software company. Beyond Security develops automated vulnerability scanning software, which checks for more than 750 known vulnerabilities and provides organisations with a picture of the state of their IT security.
Beyond Security's Web-based service can also perform penetration testing or "ethical hacking" as well as code auditing for software developers.
Glenn Miller, managing director of Janteknology, said resellers can then use the vulnerability report to discuss technology upgrades and the provision of additional services with their customer.
Miller said that until now the cost of security audits and scanning had been prohibitive to all but very large organisations.
"Beyond Security Australia's Web-based service, however, requires no hardware or software investment, and no additional resources. A scan can therefore be conducted at a fraction of the cost of previous methods," he said.
A one-off scan of an IP address costs around $418 (including GST), with subscription-based pricing available for regular checks.
Janteknology will provide the service on behalf of resellers under the banner of Beyond Security Australia.
