Fortune Tec is tapping into the home automation market through a new distribution deal with Taiwan-based digital media vendor, ZinTV.
The distributor will be taking on the ZinTVBox, an all-in-one box incorporating high-definition TV, Internet and a PC. Through a wireless or wired LAN, users can also access media content from their PC and connect their digital camera to the ZinTV Box via its USB port.
Fortune Tec managing director, Justin Hsu, said he was excited about introducing the vendor to the local market.
"It opens up a new channel for us," he said. "We are targeting the new product at retail and digital signage customers.
"We wouldn't call this a normal media box because they don't have much functionality built into them. This device is different because it bringing your PC and TV together."
Hsu hoped the deal would add another five per cent to its bottom line.
He is considering bundling the product with Fortune Tec's range of external hard drives and Origenae full HD HTPC cases.
Hsu said there were more vendor announcements in the pipeline and he planned to launch a channel program for its reseller base.
