Riverbed partners with Interwoven to provide distributed firms with optimised document access over geographically distributed networks

 • 25 September, 2007 10:06

Riverbed Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: RVBD), the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced it has partnered with Interwoven, a global leader in content management solutions, to provide customers with solutions that optimise the performance of back office processes and services and improve access to critical documents. The combination of Riverbed’s high-performance WDS solutions and Interwoven WorkSite, an award-winning solution for managing the lifecycle of client and engagement files, allows professional services firms with offices distributed around the globe to work more collaboratively, efficiently and cost effectively.

Ruden McClosky, one of the largest and fastest growing law firms in Florida, is a joint Riverbed and Interwoven customer. The firm’s almost 200 attorneys are spread across ten offices throughout Florida plus an office in Venezuela. Ruden McClosky has deployed Riverbed’s Steelhead® appliances in all of its sites and has connected 10 Interwoven WorkSite libraries, resulting in a much higher level of network transparency and operational efficiency.

“We are a highly distributed organisation that frequently builds virtual teams to match client needs with the expertise of our highly-skilled lawyers,” said Ben Weinberger, IT director at Ruden McClosky. “Working with Interwoven and Riverbed®, we are able to share our considerable case files between offices and improve the efficiency of our professional staff.

“The combination of Interwoven’s WorkSite and Riverbed Steelhead solutions allows firms to provide geographically dispersed users unified and high performance access to all client documents and emails,” said Neil Araujo vice president of professional services industry solutions marketing at Interwoven. “By empowering customers to harness the talents and resources of the entire organisation, we are helping firms succeed in an increasingly global and competitive market.”

Riverbed’s WDS solutions enable organisations with more than one office to overcome a host of severe problems, including poor application performance and insufficient bandwidth at remote sites. By speeding the performance of applications between distributed sites by five, 50 and in some cases up to 100 times, Riverbed’s award-winning Steelhead WDS products enable companies to consolidate IT, improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity, and improve staff productivity and collaboration. Steelhead appliances have been deployed in organisations ranging from the world’s largest corporations with offices around the globe to small companies with a couple of sites that are just miles apart.
“Organisations that process large volumes of documents and data require LAN-like performance for remote employees,” said Eric Wolford, senior vice president, marketing and business development at Riverbed. “Interwoven is a premier provider of software solutions for improving firm efficiency and enhancing the client experience. The combination of Interwoven and Riverbed solutions provides quick and reliable access to critical information, allowing people to collaborate across time zones and borders efficiently and cost effectively.”

Holland & Knight is a global law firm with over 20 offices worldwide, enabling the firm to offer service without boundaries. With more than 1100 lawyers and professionals, Holland & Knight’s competitive advantage is based on its ability to collaborate amongst offices and draw upon its depth and breadth of expertise. The firm prides itself on its ability to ensure that clients have access to the attorneys with the most appropriate experience, regardless of location. When the firm decided to consolidate its IT infrastructure, it needed to ensure its teams did not lose the ability to effectively and efficiently collaborate across the WAN.

"With the centralisation and consolidation of servers, the demand for network performance for enterprise applications have made it a challenge for law firms to manage, deliver and support high WAN speeds,” said Ralph Barber, CTO, Holland & Knight. “With Riverbed, Holland & Knight has greatly accelerated our network performance and mission critical applications like Interwoven Worksite, allowing users to access information instantly."

When asked about the value that the combination of Riverbed and Interwoven delivers, Tim Collinson, network administrator at Bird & Bird, an international commercial law firm with offices across Europe and in Hong Kong, said, "Riverbed in conjunction with Interwoven allowed us to implement a centralised document management store and deploy to geographically remote sites with no performance degradation. We were able to provide fast, efficient access to our client data, greatly removing the frustration of our users accessing information."
