Melbourne-based distributor, Synnex is looking to expand its Queensland market presence and has appointed Glenn Salata as its state sales manager.
The distributor is also seeking bigger premises than its current 1000sqm warehouse. It is hoping to secure a 3000sqm property. CEO, Kee Ong, said it was an important region for Synnex in terms of revenue and geographic coverage. He declined to specify how much of its current business came out of Queensland.
"I think it is about time we increased our infrastructure," he said. "There is consolidation in the channel at the moment. Resellers don't have a lot of choice of where they can purchase products from and experience a good level of service."
Synnex has hired three additional sales people in Queensland and Ong said he could do with a few more.
"We are pretty aggressive with our expansion plans at the moment," he said. "We will try and recruit as many sales people as possible so they can see more customers."
Ong said Salata was currently working on a strategy to attract more customers and increase Synnex's geographic coverage.
"The commercial area is one place that we would like to penetrate and expand into," Ong said.
Ong said he would also like to become more active in the NSW and was looking for a state sales manager. The company also intended to expand its Perth-based warehouse.
