Microsoft Australia Appoints New Team to Grow Secure Enterprise Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing Business

<p>Sydney – 23 February 2005 – Microsoft Australia has formed a Real-Time Collaboration (RTC) business unit and announced several new appointments, as part of its commitment to grow the secure enterprise instant messaging and web conferencing market in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).</p>
<p>Reporting to Mr Ben Graetz, Regional Director of Microsoft’s RTC business in the Asia Pacific and Greater China regions, the RTC team will be responsible for sales and marketing of Microsoft’s collaboration software including Microsoft® Office Live Communications Server and Microsoft® Office Live Meeting.</p>
<p>Mr Graetz returns to Australia after four years at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, where he ran the marketing organisation for Microsoft’s Information Worker business. He was later promoted to lead the business operations team for Microsoft’s worldwide Server and Tools business.</p>
<p>“These tools are a great enabler of flexible work practices, and Microsoft provides a secure, integrated and familiar environment to make it happen,” he said. “Our products allow business people to collaborate and communicate better, regardless of where they are.”</p>
<p>Industry analysts have forecast that revenue in the worldwide conferencing applications market will hit US$1.5 billion in 2008.* There are currently more than 100 million users of Instant Messaging (IM) worldwide, and by 2006, IM is predicted to outpace e-mail as the preferred method of messaging in the enterprise.**</p>
<p>“IM's convenience and popularity is prompting organisations to determine how to implement the technology safely, so that it is secure, managed, audited and encrypted,” said Mr Graetz.</p>
<p>Mr Oscar Trimboli has been appointed to lead the RTC business unit in Australia and New Zealand. He is responsible for the strategy, marketing and evangelism of Microsoft RTC solutions. Prior to this role, Mr Trimboli managed Microsoft’s relationship with HP and has 13 years experience in the software industry throughout the Asia Pacific region.</p>
<p>Mr Bob Story is the Australian and New Zealand Business Development Manager for RTC partners. He will be responsible for the growth of the RTC portfolio through a channel-led sales model. Mr Story recently joined Microsoft following seven years at Tandberg.</p>
<p>Ms Sandra Lee-Joe is the RTC Technical Specialist for Microsoft Australia and New Zealand. Sandra will use her technical knowledge to work with Microsoft’s enterprise customers to create Office Live Meeting and Microsoft Live Communications Server solutions. Prior to this role, Ms Lee-Joe worked in Microsoft’s Mobile and Embedded Devices division.</p>
