Security vendor, Attachmate, has hired Kevin Van Gils as its southern region manager for its NetIQ products.
Asia-Pacific territory and channel manager, Graham Hawkins, said, Van Gils' sole remit was the positioning and business development for NetIQ solutions across Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.
"All new business development, marketing and sales initiatives Kevin will develop and execute," he said.
"He is only six weeks into the role, so we are in the process of putting together a detailed business plan for the territory, but in essence I can break it down into revenue generation and market share."
He said Van Gils would also focus on its security products, which included group policy administration, configuration, compliance and risk management.
"He will focus on taking all of those products to various markets with a fairly detailed vertical plan," Hawkins said. "We cover a broad set of industries. Compliance is a big thing and companies must have tools in place that can help them demonstrate compliance. It ranges from banking and finance to insurance, manufacturing and the government sectors."
Attachmate has also hired Bradley Dunn as a sales representative. Both Dunn and Van Gils will report to Asia-Pacific regional director, Boris Ivancic.
Before joining NetIQ, Van Gils spent five years as the business development manger for Macquarie Telecom.
Hawkins said he wanted to roll out a new channel program across the region over the next 12 -24 months.
