Fortinet recruits channel sales and distribution manager

Review of distribution a high priority

Unified threat management vendor, Fortinet, has hired Timothy Strachan as its channel sales and distribution manager.

One of his first priorities will be to conduct a review of current distributors - Lan 1, WhiteGold Solutions and Distribution Central.

Fortinet country manager, Charles Cote, said the vendor was aggressively growing its team across Australia.

"When I first joined in January we had three staff; we currently have six and by the end of the year we should have 10," he said. "Whenever we hire it is on a team basis, so it would be a regional sales manager and systems engineer focused on a particular region."

Strachan will also be spending time with partners to build a business plan that will help them grow their business. Fortinet has around 55 partners on its books.

"Our unified threat management solution provides a multitude of offerings that partners can wrap services around. The recurring revenue is huge for the channel partner and it offers return on investment for customers," he said.

Before joining Fortinet, Strachan was the product manager for Lan 1. His resume includes stints as national sales manager for the PC division of TPG and in channel sales at Epson.

Fortinet launched its FortiPartner program in May to provide partners with tools, training, sales and marketing programs and support services.
