Destra acquires WebTrader

Destra (formerly has acquired fellow Web hosting company WebTrader, its ninth acquisition of a hosting firm in the last 18 months.

Destra paid $900,000 in cash and $300,000 in shares for the acquisition, based on a performance agreement. Destra chief executive officer Dominic Carosa said the WebTrader deal is the largest and most important acquisition his business has made.

The WebTrader business will now be integrated along with the eight other acquired businesses into Destra's Web hosting arm, including Domains n' Servers, IceBlue, iAsiaworks Australia,, Ocean Internet, and Firmware Design.

Carosa now boasts that is second only to WebCentral as the largest virtual Web-hosting company in Australia, leaving and Telstra in their wake.
