Comsol moves into remote monitoring with Uptime

Distributor targets datacentre partners and plans Victorian growth

Sydney-based distributor, Comsol, has scored an exclusive agreement with environmental monitoring vendor, Uptime Devices.

The deal will see Comsol carrying the entire Uptime portfolio. Its products monitor the physical layer of a network without requiring a software application. They can also facilitate centralised monitoring of remote locations.

Comsol national sales manager, Gavin Green, said it had been searching for vendors in this space for some time.

"One of the key things I have been doing for a while is sorting out our portfolio and expanding it with complementary vendors," he said. "It will fit nicely with what we already offer."

Green said he would bundle Uptime with racking, KVM and remote access products. They will be targeted at resellers focused on providing full service solutions and understanding business issues in datacentres, large and small server rooms and networks.

In other news, Comsol is looking to increase its commitment to the Melbourne market through appointing an account manager in the next couple of months. Green said he also had plans to expand its pre-sales and technical support teams.

"We see Melbourne as our single largest percentage opportunity and if it delivers what it should, then we would also consider moving into other states as well," he said.
