FalconStor hunts virtual mid-market resellers

Virtualisation ready for smaller companies

Storage software vendor, FalconStor, is recruiting new resellers as it shifts focus to the SME market. Regional director, Bart Steanes, is specifically targeting VMware resellers.

"We have focused on the enterprise, targeting top 1000 corporate environments," he said.

"We believe with the cost of VMware and servers going down all the time, suddenly the products we have are actually cost-effective in that space. Traditionally to do backup or disaster recovery, it was a really expensive proposition and SMEs wouldn't bite."

Steanes said it had eight resellers on its books but he would like to attract 50 partners by mid next year to cater for SME. FalconStor products are currently distributed through Queensland-based IDS-G.

"Our product works really well with VMware and we are focused on growing in that space," he said. "We're looking to expand our coverage in data protection and disaster recovery for small servers. We see people like StorageCraft and Acronis as our main competitors."

To become a FalconStor partner, resellers must have two staff trained with the technical and sales realm.
