Packeteer iShaper

This unified branch office appliance is designed to deliver intelligent acceleration and visibility of data, voice and video across the network. It combines secure application QoS and native compatibility with Microsoft application services in a single device. According to the vendor, iShaper is the first appliance bundling high-performance delivery for all key business applications to the branch office with network performance troubleshooting and security services. The device replaces acceleration-only and point products with a unified solution that optimises data, voice and video traffic, and addresses customer demand to centralise data and storage and consolidate branch office server infrastructure, Packeteer claims. Designed for enterprise customers with branch offices supporting 50 users or more, iShaper consolidates visibility, intelligent acceleration, Microsoft virtual services, application QoS and zero-day protection. It can discover more than 600 applications and protocols, offers performance visibility and monitoring in real-time, and leverages that intelligence to apply optimisation tools for specific applications. Its acceleration capability prioritises and accelerates Common Internet File System (CIFS), FTP, TCP and HTTP-based applications without compromising the performance of high priority transactional, voice and video traffic. It also applies real-time compression for transactional traffic and disk-based byte caching for data-intensive bulk applications to reduce network traffic. The secure application feature ensures high availability of key applications during peak congestion periods while maintaining business continuity through zero-day virus and denial-of-service attack protection. With extensible branch office services, the appliance supports existing and emerging Microsoft applications for patch management, networking and print management through Packeteer s advanced services engine. Other features include data and file acceleration, voice quality assurance and video quality control that can identify and separate recreational video from business conferencing.
Distributed by Express Data and LAN Systems.
