Claims almost $US1 million in royalties for unauthorised online sales

Richard 'Richie Ramone' Reinhardt has filed a lawsuit against several online music services claiming he is owed almost $US1 million in royalties, according to the Associated Press.

Reinhardt said he never authorised online sales of songs that he wrote for the band between 1983 and 1987. Reinhardt named Wal-Mart, Apple, RealNetworks, the band's management and the estate of its lead guitarist, John Cummings - better known as Johnny Ramone - in the lawsuit.

Reinhardt has also asked the court to issue an injunction preventing further use of the songs Smash You, Somebody Put Something in My Drink,Human Kind, I'm Not Jesus, I Know Better Now and (You) Can't Say Something Nice.

Representatives from Apple could not immediately be reached for comment.
