Point-of-sale product distributor, Pos Pos, has landed a deal with keyboard vendor, Preh KeyTec. The manufacturer makes programmable, OEM and standard keyboards, keypads and touch screens.
Pos Pos national sales manager, Vik Devjee, said Preh KeyTec had a small presence in the local market for years, but not a direct presence.
"They have now realised that to grow they needed to partner with a distributor that has got a much broader reach into the reseller channel," he said. "It will mean we are able to engage in more market segments than we are traditionally involved in, like the airline and banking industry."
Devjee said Pos Pos had a large OEM business where it sold OEM printers.
OEM keyboards were rising in popularity, he said.
Pos Pos has 1500 resellers ranging from one-person operations to tier one system integrators such as Fujitsu and IBM.
"A lot of tier one system integrators would benefit from a product like this, especially ones that look after retail, banking and airline sectors," he said. "Preh KeyTec will provide local support for partners in terms of technical and pre-sales training."
Preh KeyTec Asia-Pacific regional manager, Graeme Smith, said he had known of Pos Pos for a long time and approached them because they reached into parts of the market in Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia which his company could not penetrate.
"They had feet on the ground and we didn't," he said. "We have only ever worked with major OEMs. Their contact with clients such as Fujitsu, IBM and Myer is at a very senior level and that is hard to suddenly have."
