Targus recruits two new channel managers

Focus includes driving sales, increasing brand awareness and provide sales training for resellers

Accessories vendor, Targus, has hired two new channel managers within its commercial solutions division to help drive sales.

Karen Wallace will be based in Melbourne and replaces Prue Butler, while Jim Papas takes on a newly created role in Sydney. Commercial solutions division manager, Mohammad Kandeel, said both would spend about 90 per cent of their time working with channel partners, providing sales training and understanding around Targus' business model.

Key points of focus include driving sales, increasing attach rates and helping to raise product awareness.

"We want to utilise Jim and Karen as assets for the channel. They will also be identifying attachment opportunities, providing product samples and pricing," Kandeel said.

The vendor currently has about 1500 active resellers through its distributors - Ingram Micro, BMS Technology, Dicker Data, Bluechip Infotech, Leader Computers and Express Online.

"We're trying to provide value to the channel: although we work through distribution, what we want to do is proactively go out to the resellers and help them win business," he said.

Prior to joining Targus, Papas was at Brightpoint, while Wallace held a role at office equipment dealer, Katun.
