Netgear WFS709TP ProSafe

With the ability to manage up to 16 access points, this device can deliver integrated wireless mobility, security and converged services for wired and wireless users, which the vendor claims is ideal for growing small and mid-sized businesses. The WFS709TP has built-in PoE support on all eight 10/100 interfaces and identity based security features including Radius, LDAP and AAA server. Access points act as logical extensions to the WFS709TP, accepting wireless traffic and sending it to the wireless switch over IP tunnels, while its centralised architecture enables users to seamlessly roam between multiple access points. The Netgear ProSafe Wireless Switch delivers VoIP over wireless by providing support for call admission control, voice-aware fast roaming and strict over the air QoS to deliver mobile voice capabilities.

Riverbed Technology Steelhead 100/200

This device features Steelhead Mobile software designed to deliver LAN-like application performance to any user: whether on the road, working from home or connected wirelessly in the office. The software works seamlessly with Riverbed's range of Steelhead products, including the 100/200 appliance, to improve bandwidth efficiency for mobile workers by up to 99 per cent. With Steelhead Mobile, many file downloads that once took mobile or remote workers an hour can be completed in a couple of minutes or seconds, according to the vendor. In addition to accelerating application performance, it also aims to reduce bandwidth requirements. Running on the Riverbed Optimisation System (RiOS), it utilises quality data and transport streamlining to provide data reduction, compression and transport protocol optimisation while reducing traffic on the wide area network (WAN) and transport layer roundtrips.

Avaya 3645 IP Wireless Telephone

Aimed at organisations wanting the convenience of wireless communications and the benefits of leveraging IP-based converged communications solutions, this product connects to the user's LAN and simplifies communications infrastructure management, according to Avaya. While away from the desk, users can make and receive phone calls (including Caller ID), place calls on hold, establish conference calls, and check for messages. The navigation keys provide the user with access to additional capabilities through the display. The 3645 IP wireless telephone is designed for the industrial environment and has push-to-talk capability, eliminating the need for two-way radios to contact workgroups dispersed throughout an environment. The larger earpiece provides comfort for the user and seals out background noise.

Mitel Mobile Extension

Acting as a software option for the Mitel 3300 ICP range of IP-PABXs, this tool allows 3G, GSM, or WLAN phone handsets to be linked to a user's desk phone and act as an extension of the corporate PABX. Referred to as 'twinning', the functionality of the desktop phone is extended to the wireless handset or mobile phone without having to load software on the mobile handset or for the mobile handset to natively support the features. Twinning allows PABX features such as call transfers and automatic call routing to be extended to every wireless or mobile phone in the business. This allows users to transfer calls from mobile phone handsets back to desk phones, and reduce mobile phone costs for calls received in the office.
