Commander mops up Kleenmaid communications

Integrator delivers a fully converged voice and data solution across its head office and national outlets

Commander has won a contract with Kleenmaid to provide fixed-wire voice and data telecommunications. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The rollout includes a new national IP network incorporating a Commander OneStream VPN, OnStream phone lines and traditional phone lines and in-bound services. OneStream uses MultiProtocol Label Switching and an advanced OP multimedia subsystem VoIP softswitch.

Commander group general manager enterprise, Steve Evans, said the client would use the full toolset and functionality of its OneStream products across its 34 stores.

"It's a great landmark deal, particularly for a high-profile customer like Kleenmaid," he said. "We are providing a converged platform that delivers both voice and data, which is what the industry has been talking about for a while. Kleenmaid is a great of example of what a converged solution provides."

This is the second stage of the full IP rollout. In December, Commander teamed up with Nortel to install a Nortel IP PBX and contact centre at the company's Queensland head office.

Evans said the customer had been searching for a strong and reliable business solution that was central to how they communicated between their head office and Australian outlets.

"They wanted a secure and consistent method of communication and also wanted to control their costs," he said. "It's providing a better quality of service across their existing environment."
