Eos steps up Melbourne pace with LNB acquisition

Acquisition will give Brisbane-based services outfit access to broader IBM skills and new customer opportunities

Brisbane-based services outfit, Eos Solutions, has acquired IBM Business Partner, LNB Consulting, for an undisclosed sum.

Eos managing director, Annette Henry, said it wanted to expand its Melbourne business by about 40 per cent.

"We knew the size of the team, their focus and they were in the same game as us," she said. "You're either going to be competitors or join forces and we were fortunate enough that it was good timing for LNB."

The acquisition will add about 30 LNB customers to EOS' 200-client base and will extend the service provider's delivery capacity and certifications across IBM's software brands.

"We would both like to see ourselves as leaders in the IBM messaging and collaboration space. So we are bringing on skill sets that we know how to utilise," Henry said.

Eos currently has 44 staff. Henry said all eight LNB employees would be kept on-board, with previous director and owner, Peter Ellenby, becoming Eos' principal for major projects in Victoria.

"Part of our strategy is offering highly specialised services in niche areas of technology and LNB's customer base and expertise is complementary to our areas of specialisation," she said.

Henry said the company was open to further mergers and acquisitions with like-minded organisations. Eos acquired Enable Apps in 2005 to launch in Melbourne.

"It's an excellent way to grow a business and worked particularly well for us in Melbourne," she said.
