Multimedia Technology (MMT) has picked up its first high-performance line of RAM and has high hopes for the range.
The distributor was now stocking Taiwan's Team Group brand following a long courtship, marketing manager, Mark Eichler, said.
"We've had our eye on Team Group for a couple of years and when we saw it at Computex this year we were impressed with some of the records it's been setting," he said. "There's a natural fit between it and some of our graphics cards."
MMT already has a range of graphics cards from Matrox and Leadtek, however, it's the high-performance XFX range which it believes is the best fit for the Team Group RAM.
"We are aware of who our competition is and we'll be bundling Team Group and XFX quite competitively," Eichler said. "We've done our research."
A XFX 8600GTS graphics card and Xtreem 800MHz DDR2 2GB of RAM will retail for $499. A slightly downgraded package of an XFX 8600GT graphics cards and Xtreem 800MHz DDR2 2GB of RAM will cost $399.
In the past, Eichler said it was common for distributors to bundle motherboards and RAM but the market was changing.
"Our research suggests that motherboard and RAM bundles are over," he said. "From an upgrade perspective, RAM and graphics cards makes so much more sense."
MMT also has an interest in Team Group's flash memory range.
"Given that we distribute digital cameras from Sony, Olympus and Panasonic, it's quite handy to have access to a flash memory range too," Eichler said. "The Team Group range goes right up to 16GB flash memory cards."
