Juniper launches free certification program to entice Cisco resellers to skill up its routing technologies

Juniper Networks has introduced a fast track program to entice Cisco partners to skill up in its routing technology.

The Web-based Junos Enterprise Routing Certification Fast Track program is being offered to Cisco certified engineers free of charge. Juniper lead enterprise systems engineer, Matthew Miller, said it was providing Cisco engineers with the ability to certify in multiple technologies and increase their skill set by incorporating Juniper routing.

"Cisco is an obvious source of talented engineers that we can provide this type of service to," he said. "People who have Cisco certifications are interested in that component of the IT industry, so it makes sense to entice that type of person to our program."

The program runs until December. While it is open to most resellers, Miller said those already holding the Cisco certification had the fundamental skills to complete the Junos program. Overall, Juniper has certified about 250 people across A/NZ.

"We have worldwide aspirations of getting up to 100,000 people certified," Miller said. "We are one of the leading regions for getting people certified and it makes sense because we have quite a large market share in A/NZ.

"This is essentially a free certification resellers can put on their resume, making them a dual-vendor routing expert."
