Application delivery vendor, F5 Networks, will put increased focus on service providers as it seeks to round out its local offerings.
While cautious about affecting the sales chances of its existing channel, managing director, Chris Poulos, said there were new opportunities for the vendor through service provision.
"Our FY08 starts October 1 and we will be looking at the service provider marketplace," he said. "I don't want to spread our reseller community too thinly as I want it to maintain the same level of business it's already been enjoying." Poulos said he would look at the top two or three providers which had a firm focus on the market.
"We're talking the WebCentral's of this world," he said. "Providers who don't try and peddle product here, there and everywhere, but really know their target markets."
Prior to turning its attention to the service provider market, F5 has most recently been working with sole Australian distributor, Distribution Central, to carve out a niche in WA and is also eyeing SA.
"We've got people like Alphawest and DiData who are doing good work in SA and are perhaps less aided than most," Poulos said. "We will look to provide more support, through Distribution Central, to the likes of them in the coming year as well."
