London, Sydney, New York, Hong Kong, Munich, Brussels, 29 April 2004. MessageLabs, the leading provider of managed email security services to businesses worldwide, has been recognised for having the “Best Security Solution 2004” by SC Magazine.

The company won the penultimate SC Magazine Principal Award last night last night at the magazine’s awards ceremony in London.

The annual SC Magazine Global Awards is the leading event of its kind. This year, the publication received nearly 1,000 nominations from around the world, and thousands of votes were cast to recognise achievement and technical excellence in more than 30 categories.

The SC Awards Council, a group of more than 100 senior information security professionals, judged two of the four categories in which MessageLabs was a finalist. The deciding factors in making their selection included technical innovation and ease of use, as well as customer references.

As well as winning this prestigious Principal Award, MessageLabs was selected as a finalist in three other categories: Best Blended Security Solution, Best Security Service and the Blue Riband Award for Best Security Company 2004. MessageLabs was one of a handful of companies short-listed for these awards categories, and was selected above many other competing email security products and services.

“This is a fantastic achievement. We were up against a strong group of competitors in this category and it gives us tremendous satisfaction to win this award and be recognized by our peers and other industry experts,” said Ben White, chairman of MessageLabs.

“We are also proud to have been one of the very few companies to place multiple times as a finalist. As a company, we pride ourselves on offering comprehensive email security services that allow businesses to effectively protect and control mission critical email systems and content. This recognition validates that MessageLabs’ managed services are much more than single-point solutions—they solve critical and immediate business and security needs.”

Through a portfolio of actively managed services, MessageLabs’ customers are proactively protected from email-borne threats such as viruses, spam, pornography and other potentially harmful or unwanted content. Because MessageLabs’ services are managed and delivered at the Internet level, they stop threats before they reach corporate networks and require no additional hardware, software, support or maintenance. The company’s expert team of engineers and client services managers provide 24 x 7 support and service, saving internal IT departments from wasting countless time and money managing internal systems, training end users and continually updating software patches or dealing with virus infections from email-borne viruses, which account for an estimated 80% of all viruses.
