Hitachi Data Systems Appoints General Counsel for ANZ

<p>Hitachi Data Systems, provider of Application Optimised Storage™ solutions and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced the appointment of George Sideris as General Counsel for Australia and New Zealand.</p>
<p>“George brings over two decades of experience in legal counsel to Hitachi Data Systems and will work closely with our clients to deliver the highest level of legal guidance and support,” said Mark Kay, Managing Director, Hitachi Data Systems of Australia and New Zealand. “Hitachi has reached a new level of maturity in this market whereby we have the capability to attract the highest calibre of employees like George Sideris.”</p>
<p>George will work alongside Hitachi Data Systems’ Law Vice President Chris Leslie based in the United States to provide best-in-breed legal counsel to Hitachi Data Systems and its clients throughout Australia, New Zealand and the entire Asia Pacific region.</p>
<p>In his new role, George will sit as part of the Hitachi Data Systems executive team, advising and acting in relation to the Australian and New Zealand operations owned and operated by Hitachi Data Systems and Hitachi Ltd. He will hold general managerial responsibility for the day-to-day legal issues arising out of the company's operations, including legal responsibilities involving government customers, regulatory compliance and secretarial issues for Hitachi as a whole.</p>
<p>George brings a wealth of legal and commercial experience to his new role, having spent nine years at Alcatel-Lucent as Senior Executive Director, General Counsel and Company Secretary of Lucent Australia and New Zealand, and General Counsel of Lucent World Services. In his roles at Alcatel-Lucent, he held responsibility for legal affairs within all countries of the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, George was the Executive Director and General Counsel of AT&amp;T/NCR for Australia and New Zealand and the Asia Pacific Law Vice President handling all legal issues within the Asia Pacific region.</p>
<p>His experience in the IT and Telecommunications industries includes managing legal matters relating to equipment and software sales, service and marketing, operations and maintenance, outsourcing, leasing, real estate ,supply chain, infrastructure and mergers and acquisitions. George also spent over six years working in the oil, energy, mining and construction industries with Ampol Exploration/Pioneer and Pancontinental Mining and understands the commercial business requirements of a diverse range of customers.</p>
<p>With qualifications in Law, Science and Engineering, George is the ideal person to assist Hitachi Data Systems in its move into the next phase of market leadership.</p>
