Neoware m100Neoware's m100 thin client notebook has no hard drive and does not allow information to be stored locally. Instead, all files and applications remain on an organisation's server where they are protected from data theft - a security advantage which could appeal to industries governed by strict data privacy regulations including finance and healthcare. The Neoware m100 has no moving parts and operates silently with a battery life of more than six hours. It boasts a 15-inch screen, variety of available country keyboards, and has the capability for Ethernet, USB, built-in Wi-Fi, or cellular connections. This allows users to access data from any location including offices, homes, and hotels. The m100 supports Microsoft Windows XPe and Linux operating systems.

Western Digital Caviar SE16The new high-capacity 750GB Serial ATA (SATA) WD Caviar SE16 desktop-class hard drives are now shipping. Ideal for data-intensive applications, high-performance computing and multimedia systems, the drives deliver 3Gbps transfer rate, have a 16MB cache and Native Command Queuing (NCQ). They also feature SecurePark technology, which parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is not operating. This ensures the recording heads never touch the disk surface, improving non-operational shock tolerance while reducing head and surface wear and enhancing long-term reliability. StableTrac technology - previously used on high-capacity hard drives to guarantee reliability - has also been incorporated into the new drive series. While most current hard drives feature motors that are attached only at the bottom of the drive, StableTrac's motor shaft is secured at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking during read and write operations.
