ACT-based GDB International has been appointed exclusive A/NZ distributor of Bebob Broadcast Engineering.
GDB sales and marketing manager, David Cooper, said the distributor discovered the prosumer video camera maker at the NAB 2007 (National Association of Broadcasters) in Las Vegas earlier this year.
Bebob produces broadcasting accessories such as iris controllers, prosumer camera lighting and power supplies for high-end cameras from Sony, Panasonic, Canon and JVC. Its range includes the Bebob Foxi, Zoe, Lux, Leo, Coco and Box brands.
"Bebob's a natural extension of our accessories line," Cooper said. "We are finding more businesses and even government departments are investing in $10,000 cameras that are almost as good as full broadcast cameras."
Cooper said the Bebob range would sit well alongside its Azden wireless microphone systems, nNovia hard disk recorders and Datavideo mobile video studios. GDB will also provide trained staff to assist resellers.
"We're quite anal about not adding a new manufacturer unless we can fully support them and immerse ourselves in the product range," he said.
"Manufacturers are often good at making gear but very poor at communicating technical updates and changes."
The appointment sees Victorian distributor, Smart Digital, bumped out of the German vendor's distributor ranks.
A spokesperson for Smart Digital confirmed it had parted company with Bebob but declined to comment further.
