Sun Blade 6000 Server

The Sun Blade 6000 Modular System Server offers customers the option of mixing and matching Intel, AMD and Sun's UltraSPARC T1 processors to optimise performance for all applications. According to Sun, it has double the I/O capacity of competing blades and rack-mount servers, increasing the datacentre lifecycle. IBM BladeCentre S

Designed for SMBs, the IBM BladeCentre S is half the size of a typical blade system and can sit on a desktop, plug into a standard power outlet, and manage up to six blade servers simultaneously. Featuring integrated hardware and software commonly used by mid-size businesses - antivirus/firewall, VoIP, email, collaboration, backup and recovery and file and print applications - the new system is designed to run in a typical office environment. Configuration is similar to how a consumer would set up a home PC. Following a wizard-based installation interface an administrator plugs the blade servers into the system, plugs the system into a power outlet, and launches a management tool that enables point-and-click configuration via an express or custom install. For businesses operating branch offices - such as retailers or financial institutions - IT administrators can pre-configure hundreds of systems to operate in the same manner and ship them out the door knowing a branch manager will be able to simply plug a system in and power it up.
