Infoplex secures acquisition

Security now comes in-house to managed services provider

Sydney-based managed services provider, Infoplex, has bought security consultant, ThinkSecure, for an undisclosed sum.

Infoplex managing director, Sean Kaye, said the company had worked with ThinkSecure extensively over the past 12 months until it reached the stage where an acquisition was logical.

"ThinkSecure has been the glue in some projects we've done," he said. "We didn't start this business saying, 'Let's build a network implementation team'. I guess we always felt that we could acquire a business later or partner with people. And so we partnered with ThinkSecure and found it was good at delivering and culturally fitted with us."

The acquisition allows Infoplex to bring security into each of its offerings including disaster recovery, shared and dedicated hosting, managed collocation services, and software-as-a-service.

It also beefed up Infoplex staffing numbers by 13 people to 50, Kaye said.

Due to the growth, the business is now looking to expand its presence in St Leonards by renting a single floor space for the combined teams in addition to a secure operations centre.

Kaye said Infoplex was also looking at expanding into other states.

"We're going to expand geographically over the next two quarters and start a presence in Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra," he said. "We already have datacentres in those locations and now it's a matter of just adding people on the ground to do things like implementations."
