Hostworks renews ninemsn deal

New three-year deal could extend through to 2013

Managed services provider, Hostworks, has renewed its contract with online media portal, ninemsn, in a deal that could take the partnership through to 2013. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Hostworks managing director, Marty Gauvin, said the provider was constantly evolving its relationship with the portal.

"We've worked very closely with ninemsn for many years and seen it become one of the highest traffic websites in the country," he said. "Because of this, we've had to be quite agile in how we've maintained the site and our understanding of the environment and the services we need to offer them."

The three-year deal, with a three-year extension option, sees technologies including data acceleration and blade servers opened up to ninemsn. Meanwhile, the two parties are also evaluating server virtualisation and business continuity practices. It covers more than 130 websites accessible through the ninemsn web portal.

Gauvin claimed the ninemsn site was one of the most stable MSN sites around the globe.

"We expect 99.9 per cent availability and our average is 99.96. What other MSN sites have achieved is a bit less than that. We have been able to achieve better numbers," he said.

Besides statistics, keeping big customers on Hostworks' books was also a result of remaining committed to large business and its needs in general, Gauvin said.

"We do stick to our knitting: we don't look to bring on-board small customers," he said.
