Nortel names Bandrowczak new CIO

Industry veteran Steven Bandrowczak to become CIO of Nortel Networks

Industry veteran Steven Bandrowczak will become the next CIO of Nortel Networks, effective July 16, Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovski announced Monday.

Bandrowczak was most recently CIO of laptop maker Lenovo Group, and was previously CIO at DHL Worldwide Network SA/NV as well as CIO at electronics distributor Avenet.

He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Long Island University. In 2004, he was named a Computerworld Premier 100 IT leader.

Zafirowski said Bandrowczak will help Nortel extend its "world-class leadership team." He pointed to Bandrowczak's experience and a "consistent track record of performance."

Brandrowczak assumes duties from Bill Donovan, an interim CIO since May 15.

"Nortel operates a sophisticated, leading-edge enterprise network and is respected for best practices in security, mobility and business continuity planning," Bandrowczak said in a statement. "I look forward to furthering Nortel's thought leadership in these areas, both internally and with customers around the world."
