Dr David Skellern was honoured for his ICT achievements and accomplishments at the annual AIIA iAwards in Sydney last month.
He was awarded the prestigious CSIRO Tony Benson Award for Individual Achievement in ICT.
AIIA CEO, Sheryle Moon, said Dr Skellern was a natural choice as his contribution to the industry had been outstanding. He would be a worthy ambassador for the ICT industry in the coming year.
Dr Skellern started his career in 1974 and attended the University of Sydney. His string of achievements include cofounding the Radiata group, which demonstrated the world's fi rst chipset implementation of the 54Mbps IEEE 802.11a high-speed WLAN standard in September 2000. The company was sold to Cisco Systems in 2001.
"During my career, I have had the privilege of working with terrific teams of very talented people. I want to thank all of those I've worked with for what I've learnt from them and for the exciting times we've had achieving the outcomes we did," Dr Skellern said.
