CA and Klikon join forces with managed service

New network management offering is aimed at SMBs

CA and Klikon Solutions are pairing up on a new managed service that promises organisations better control over their IT environment.

The offering will remotely manage simple network management protocol (SNMP) devices including routers, switches, firewalls, servers and operating systems. Klikon sales director, David Abouhaidar, said he saw a market for this type of service and highlighted it as a focal point for his company.

"We went through an extensive evaluation process [to choose a technology partner]. We already had the materials in place and what we needed in order to provide the best possible service," he said. "CA came through with flying colours: not only did they have the best product, but the staff were helpful and the whole relationship process was basically second to none.

"We have probably the Rolls Royce of monitoring equipment from CA, which is Spectrum, eHealth and other tools that we will be using internally. It's just the next step for Klikon."

Abouhaidar said it also looked at other vendor solutions such as IBM Tivoli and HP Openview. Klikon is targeting its managed service at SMBs. He hinted it had already secured a couple of large corporate customers, but could not name who they are. Klikon has been a CA certified partner for two years.

CA director of channels and alliances, Michael Bosnar, said Klikon was proficient within the managed services space.

"It's a very fast growing area and we can't possibly keep up with the demand of supporting the opportunities that exist out there with our own technical people. We have to rely on partners like Klikon to give us the bandwidth to be able to keep up with it," he said. "Klikon can provide the service to a number of organisations we don't even touch."

CA partner, Gen-I, also supplies managed services for several of its big accounts, Bosnar said.
