Looking to tackle the small business market, ICT Distribution has brought on job dispatch and management software applications from SmartTrade.
The Melbourne-based distributor's ICT product marketing manager, Sally Davies, said SmartTrade's range would help iron out missing areas in its portfolio.
"A lot of our products are customised at the top-end. With this being an 'out-of-the -box' solution, it makes it easy and cost-effective for users to implement," she said. "We also offer Telstra services and this takes what we provide to the next level for our dealers and their customers in terms of providing a business process."
The SmartTrade Mobile application allows users with a PDA or laptop to receive and process jobs remotely. Davies said SmartTrade would mostly suit services-based businesses, such as tradesmen. She highlighted one-man bands through to organisations with about 50 users as ideal.
"From a dealer perspective, they should be targeting SMEs that have job scheduling and management requirements," she said.
SmartTrade director, David Brown, said signing up ICT was an opportunity to rebuild its local reseller network. Up to 90 per cent of its current business is direct. "About three years ago we tried to set up a dealer network in Australia and it was a very frustrating process. It was very easy to get dealers but managing them was hard work," he said. "ICT was in a better position to manage dealers in a more professional manner."
To kick off the deal, the two companies are giving partners that provide a qualified SmartTrade lead the chance to earn points towards gift vouchers.
